Licensing

How to get your PAL / RPAL

1. Pick a date and register

Choose a course date below and submit the registration form. We confirm your seat by email with the location and start time.

2. Complete the course and exams

Attend the full course and pass the written and practical tests. A minimum of 80% is required on each component.

3. Submit your licence application

We provide your signed course report(s). Submit them with the RCMP application for a Possession and Acquisition Licence, two references and photo.

4. Receive your PAL / RPAL

The RCMP Canadian Firearms Program processes the application and mails your licence. Processing typically takes several weeks.

  • Minimum age requirements and RCMP eligibility rules apply to licence applications.
  • Seats are limited — early registration is recommended, especially for weekend dates.
